Each year, the people of St Isidore elect the members to serve of the Bishop’s Committee (BC) that functions like a board of directors to oversee the mission and operations of the church as well as a delegate to represent us at the Council of the Diocese of Texas. This year, the Nominating Committee has proposed, and the BC has approved, the following candidates for election. Voting will close at midnight, Saturday, November 7.
ALEXANDRIA (ALLIE) ALLEMAND
Allie is the leader of Warrior Church and a member of the Kitchen Table Church community. A lifelong Episcopalian, she and her husband Landon joined St Isidore in 2019 and have been active volunteers at the Abundant Harvest Kitchen and Laundry Love. Allie will complete her one-year term on the Bishop’s Committee this year and loves “gathering people around the table” that are different than her. She is a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology in the Humble Independent School District. Allie’s goal if elected to the Committee is to see St Isidore’s reach grow, more members join the communities and more come to know the love of God through her and our communities. |
JOHANNES (JOHN) SWART
John is the leader of the Kitchen Table Church community. He and his wife Amy joined St Isidore in 2018 and have been active volunteers at the Abundant Harvest Kitchen and the Tamarac Pines Apartment community. A native of South Africa, John has been a small business owner for over 20 years and served as a Sergeant Major in the military before immigrating to the United States. He served as a parish council member of his church in Johannesburg and was tasked with the care of widows and orphans. John’s goal if elected to the Committee is to see St Isidore membership grow, ensure the church’s financial sustainability and promote increased church visibility in the operations of the Kitchen facility. |
MANUEL (MANNY) VAZQUEZ
Manny is a member of the Grogan’s Mill House Church community. He and his wife Mary joined St Isidore in 2020 when they transferred their membership from St James in Conroe. Both had been active volunteers on the Abundant Harvest food truck and at Laundry Love before joining St Isidore and have continued their work at the Kitchen since. A refugee from Cuba, Manny joined the Episcopal Church over 40 years ago and retired from Texaco, Inc. Information Technology Department after 30 years of service. Manny’s goal if elected to the Committee is to promote the “servant church” model for St Isidore, increase opportunities to serve and volunteer at the church and to adapt the church’s mission and vision as circumstances change. |
AMY WARD HAMILTON
Amy is a member of the Kitchen Table Church community and a candidate to represent St Isidore at Diocesan Council in February 2021. Amy and her husband John joined St Isidore in 2018 and have been active volunteers at the Abundant Harvest Kitchen and the Tamarac Pines Apartment community. A practicing Physician Assistant in family medicine, Amy has served as a Eucharistic Minister, Girl Scout Troop Leader for 7 years and the President of the local chapter of PEO, an international organization supporting women’s education.
